Thanks...
A few days after I shot it I showed the hide to the local Guide/Outfitter who has been working in the area for over 35 years he told me that this was the biggest interior grizzly that he has ever seen in all those years.
It's skull measures 24 1/16" so it will make the all time Boone & Crocket record book.
The thing is is this is an interior grizzly they just don't get this big normally and to make the record book with an interior bear is very rare...
The Guide/Outfitter estimated the age @ about 33 years and its weight at over 1000 lbs.

My son and I just got drawn for a grizzly tag each for the same area as this bear came from.
Guess we are going back to try again this year...

That's a brute of a bear!
Is this the same Camp Cook that recently helped a buddy sell a .244 AI? (The one I bought....)
And your shootin' iron looks like a .45-70 maybe, or .450 Marlin?

Yes that is me and the rifle is a Marlin 1895GS in 45-70 loaded with 525gr Beartooth WLNGC's @ 1600fps.
Shot the bear with a 375 RUM and 300gr Partitions though and carried the Marlin in when we went into the thick bush the next morning after the bear.

Bear was finally officially scored summer 2012 4 years after I shot it.
It is a bit bigger than I thought and I'm told by the scorer that it probably shrunk 1/16" - 3/16" in those 4 years the official score = 24 3/16"
Not bad for an interior grizzly...
